Privacy Act of 1974; System of Records

Issued by Defense Department

What the record says

In accordance with the Privacy Act of 1974, the Department of the Army is modifying and reissuing a current system of records titled, Defense Casualty Information Processing System (DCIPS), A0600-8-1c AHRC DoD. This system of records was established to collect and maintain records on the management of casualty and mortuary affairs across DoD. This system of records notice (SORN) is being updated to incorporate the DoD standard routine uses (A through J), and to add a new routine use (M) to allow for sharing with the Executive Office of the President for the purpose of responding to inquiries from and support the families of service members. The Army is also modifying additional sections to improve clarity and reflect changes.

This is a factual description of what was issued or decided, not an assessment of it.
