Revision of the Freedom of Information Act Regulations of the National Railroad Passenger Corporation and Implementation of the Electronic Freedom of Information Act Amendments of 1996 (Public Law 104-231)

This notice sets forth proposed revisions of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) regulations of the National Railroad Passenger Corporation (``Amtrak''). The rules reflect recent developments in the statute and case law, including the Electronic Freedom of Information Act Amendments of 1996 (Public Law 104-231). The proposed revisions provide substantive and procedural changes to conform to the amendments. Amtrak has also taken this opportunity to streamline its rules and include updated cost figures to be used in calculating and charging fees.
