ODNI is headed by the Director of National Intelligence, who serves as the President's principal intelligence adviser and oversees the National Intelligence Program across the U.S. intelligence community. The office sets intelligence priorities, integrates information from agencies such as the CIA, NSA, and FBI, and works to ensure timely, accurate intelligence reaches the President and policymakers.
Created by Congress under the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 (amending the National Security Act of 1947) (Pub. L. 108-458; 50 U.S.C. 3023), it acts within the authority that statute grants. Its actions are subject to judicial review and to congressional oversight and funding.
