letter to the editor

A short reader submission a publication may print. Still one of the most accessible ways to put an argument in front of a local audience and local officials.

In full

Local outlets publish letters from residents with fairly high acceptance rates, typically requiring a word limit, a real name, and a verifiable phone number. Officials and their staff read local letters pages closely, so a letter can reach a decisionmaker more reliably than a social post with a much larger audience.
