campaign committee
The legal entity that raises and spends money for a candidate. It must register with the FEC, keep records, and file public disclosure reports.

A federal candidate designates a principal campaign committee once they raise or spend more than a threshold amount. The committee files periodic reports listing receipts, disbursements, debts, and donors above a small amount, which is the raw material behind every campaign finance figure the public sees.
